- 于2006年在澳大利亚墨尔本大学获得理学（药理）学士学位。2011年于澳大利亚莫纳什大学（Baker国际心脏病研究所）取得医学博士学位，主要以血小板为研究对象，研究血小板在心脏炎症和纤维化等方面的调控机制。2012年归国后就职于大连医科大学（肿瘤干细胞研究院），主要研究血小板在肿瘤微环境中促进肿瘤细胞转移的调控机制，并主持国家自然科学（青年）基金一项。2015年柳杨就职于大连医科大学附属第一医院（心血管疾病研究所），主要研究方向为药物致心肌损伤的分子机制。目前以第一/通讯作者（含共同）身份发表SCI文章15篇（包括hypertension、 ATVB等1区心血管专业期刊）。
